Business Finance

There are two methods of providing immediate cash advances from sales invoices;

Factoring
Invoices are assigned to the factoring company who advance up to 90% of their value, customers send their payments to the factoring company, who credit you with the balance less their charge.
Invoice Discounting
Similar to Factoring, but you do not assign the invoices, control of the sales ledger and collecting payments are kept under your control.

Asset Finance

An umbrella term used for a number of specific financial packages including;

Hire Purchase
A deposit of usually 10-20% is paid to the finance company, who takes the title of the goods. The outstanding amount and interest is repaid by instalments over an agreed period, at the end of which title to the goods can be purchased by the payment of a fee.
Lease Purchase
Similar to Hire Purchase, the difference being the deposit is paid as a multiple of the monthly repayment (usually 3 months), the balance and interest is paid in monthly instalments.
Finance Lease
The finance company takes full ownership of the asset and rents the goods to you over an agreed period. At the end of the primary period capital cost of the goods and hirer charges (interest) will have been covered. To continue to use the goods a secondary or peppercorn rental is charged.
Operating Lease
The difference between an Operating Lease and a Finance Lease is that the primary rental period does not cover all the capital costs and hirer charges. At the end of the period the asset will be sold to recover the residue value.
